The Journal of Sustainable Plant Protection and Biomics (JSPPB) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by the Department of Plant Protection within the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, Iraq.
1. Focus and Scope
- Core Mission: JSPPB is dedicated to publishing scientific, evidence-based research that advances sustainable crop protection, plant pathology, eco-friendly pest management, biological disease control, and agricultural biomics.
- Subject Coverage: The journal covers topics such as biological control agents, organic soil amendments, eco-friendly pathogen suppression, molecular plant-pathogen interactions, weed management, and pesticide/acaricide evaluation.
- Target Audience: Designed for agricultural researchers, plant pathologists, entomologists, biological control specialists, and environmental scientists.
2. Open Access Policy & Copyright Notice
- Open Access Model: The journal operates under an open-access policy, making all published articles freely and immediately available to the public without subscription fees.
- Licensing: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which allows unrestricted reading, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

3. Peer Review Process & Editorial Governance
- COPE Adherence: The journal follows the ethical standards and best practice guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Each manuscript that passes initial screening is evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers.

- Editorial Independence: Editorial decisions are made strictly on scientific merit, methodology, ethical integrity, and relevance, independent of commercial or institutional influence. Lack of novel results alone is not grounds for rejection if the study is scientifically and ethically sound.
- Appeals & Complaints: Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions by submitting justified scientific arguments to the editorial office.
4. Author Guidelines, Fees, and AI Policy
- Article Processing Charges (APC):
- Authors in Iraq: 250,000 Iraqi Dinars (IQD) upon final acceptance.
- International Authors: $200 USD upon final acceptance.
- APC Waivers: The journal provides full or partial discretionary APC waivers for authors unable to pay, regardless of country of origin. Fee payment does not guarantee acceptance.
- AI-Assisted Content Policy: Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in manuscript preparation. AI tools may assist with formatting or language editing but cannot be listed as authors.
- Data Availability & Sharing: Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement and deposit research datasets in open repositories such as Zenodo or Figshare.
5. Research Ethics and Disclosure
- Ethical Approvals: Research involving human participants or animal subjects must receive prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee and comply with international standards such as the Declaration of Helsinki.
- Conflict of Interest & Funding: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any personal, financial, or institutional conflicts of interest. All funding sources and the role of funding organizations must be explicitly declared.
6. Archiving and Digital Preservation
- Digital Archiving: JSPPB ensures the long-term preservation and digital accessibility of its publications through institutional repositories and the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) platform.
- Note on LOCKSS/CLOCKSS: While the journal uses digital preservation protocols through institutional networks and open publishing systems, explicit mention of LOCKSS or CLOCKSS archival systems is not specified in the journal's published policy text.
